To be here now
I wake within the dark or light
and watch you sleeping there.
Tiptoe softly ’cross the way;
smile on beauty in our care.
Sipping tea beside your form,
‘fore off to work I ride;
yet though I leave you slumbering still
you’re there, in my heart, deep inside.
The time we have between our hours
seems to end even as it begins;
so each touch I savour, each kiss I breathe;
delight so much in these things.
One day we will be older and wiser,
and we’ll look back on these times with wonder;
at how we coped, and battled,
and still won through,
despite all; it’s love's spell that we are under.
And so I will end with these few words;
words so few you’ll forget them never.
My darling, my lover, my wife; friend and mother,
our love will go on forever.
